Miniatures?
« on: February 03, 2010, 04:48:07 PM »
Hi - apologies if this has been answered somewhere, but I'm new to this game...

Will there be miniatures for this game?
 :)

Oh yes indeed, there will be.  And, since the game is played on 1.5" hexes, those 4-hex battleship miniatures are going to be drool-worthy.

You can't be any more keen than those of us who work on the game are, to see those minis - trust me!

I'm wondering if the ships will have stickers you cas apply to the base that would help identify them. That would make it much easier to keep track of several ships of the same class, or near sisters that don't have separate models.

interesting idea, either a hull decal, something to the effect of aircraft nose art.

Not accurate for ships (subs yes) But these are now flying ships.

Or even just number decals.

I agree there should be some sort of ID tag for each ship, so ther's no confusion. After all, it's easier keeping track of a Stinger and an Thorn in BT, but destroyers tend to look alike for the most part......

Are these minis going to be assemble and paint, or pre-painted plastic?

I'm fairly certain this picture is on the site somewhere else, but I couldn't find it with a forum search.

TO be accurate, that's a master figure computer-carved out of a solid block of lucite in around 70 hours - that's the sort of thing the molds will be made from.

It's also one of the coolest things I've seen on the internet.

No, we're not releasing stealth flying battleships - yet ;)

For a slightly different angle focusing on the front of the mini from my Flikr page:

That has yet to be determined.  I'm in the pre-paint camp. If not I'll just use paper miniatures or war at sea ships for substitutes.

Personally, I think, unpainted, unassembled would be much more conducive to user creativity.  Whether that makes money, well, I don't rightly know.
