Do you feel that the odds would be even with turrets in play?

I think your 11's on the DBlack didn't hurt either.  ;D

Absolutely.  I'd say that the primary advantage that the Chasse has had throughout this is the fact that Courser's been firing at a profile of DBlue, while Chasse was firing at DBlack.  That's an advantage of 3 on average, and when shots have been failing by 1 or 2, is starting to show.

Chasse

"Fire all guns!" ordered Vernet, with relish, anticipating the sight of the British vessel plunging from the sky.
But it was not to be; jostled and misaligned by the abrupt maneouvers, the French gunfire was sporadic and inaccurate.  One shot only struck on the open wound in Courser's flank.
"Hunt him down, keep firing, stay right on top of him!"
The Chasse drifted gently forward, swinging a bit to port.

HML Courser

In the hull of the Courser, chaos reigned.  Many of the Port Broadside guns were still viable, but any sort of co-ordinated or planned firing had disappeared along with the half the guncrews and most of the Petty Officers.  Each gun fired as the remaining crewmen found a target, but the chances of donig anything useful were vanishingly small.

On the bridge a voice shouted, "Full speed, we have to get out of here!"
"Yes, sir."
"Captain, I object."
"Of course, Mister Miller, carry on."
"Come to Starboard."

The Chasse Faucon move was 2P1:
It ends up in <0503-0602-0702<

It looks like on those 1st two shots you weren't taking into account the +1 for Armor, but that's no real effect...just something to look out for. Not much is going to survive a roll of 18 here, haha.

As I read it, any time you re-roll because you hit a destroyed slot, it ignores the modifiers from armour.

Port slot 6 is 15 base, 16 after the armor. Gun fire #1 is listed as "[3 2 7]-1[6] 11 < 15". Like I said, it doesn't matter in this case, it's just something to look for.

Chasse
“He’s accelerating, Capitaine,” and indeed, the british vessel was speeding out of range faster than the guns could follow, and quickly only the 110mm turret was reaching far enough, and even then it missed to the left.
“Increase speed to maximum, pursue him.”
The Courser’s maneouver to starboard suddenly opened its broadside to fire again and an array of white contrails arrowed in towards the ship.  A gout of flame leaped skywards and a wave of heat rolled over the bridge, forcing everyone to look away.  When they turned back what had previously been the heaviest turret on the ship was a smoking crater on the hull.
“Sacre Dieu,” murmured Lt Brosse.

HML Courser
“Back to port, helm.”
“Our weakened side?”
“She’ll be expecting us to keep turning clockwise, hopefully we’ll be able to get our main guns into play again.”
The enemy was accelerating fast, and it looked like they weren’t going to be able to turn before being caught.  The Port guns, seeing the target again, returned to firing sporadically.
"He's going to be too close, sir!"  And then, at the last, Chasse turned to Starboard.

Game Effects
HML Courser at Chasse
2 guns at Green Blue Blue
[4 6 6][3] 16 > 15: Gun destroyed (Wow, I think that shell must have hit that little gap in a turret where the barrel can be raised or lowered, or something).
[1 4 2][2] 8 < 13: No effect

Chasse at Courser
1 gun at Green Blue Black
[2 2 7]-1[4] 10 < 15: No effect

OK Tonbo, now I'm totally confused about where we are - this doesn't look right.

Starting from when we are right next to each other (turn 7?)

I plotted forward 2, turn port (left) forward 1.
Courser (I assume) plotted forward 8, turn to Starboard (right)

I plotted the positions, with the chasse in light blue, Courser in red.

-----------------------------------------------

My next move was forward 7, turn to Starboard (right) which actually puts me right exactly on top of the Courser (my maximum move BTW)

So how does the Courser end up swung around 120'?

I started w/ my bow at 1405. You're placed at 1005. My move is correct, but your incorrect movement is making mine look off. ;)

I have no idea what I did there.  Maybe I started counting the French move at -4?

Here's the correct positions.

Theat's better. ;)

OK, just to confirm, the French ship has lost 2 guns and  a trim tank, the British have lost a gun on each side and a crew?

Cool, my original PM'd move stands as I sent it yesterday.

Tonbo please correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I have marked off:

Faucon Class: 100mm bow gun, and Trim Tank starboard
Courser: 3in & Crew port, 3in starboard
