This is probably a silly question but... any news?  Good or otherwise?  :D

I believe the Battletech Introductory box was also being delayed, and i just saw that at my FLGS last Friday, so maybe that means the delays holding Leviathans up are also being resolved. But I could be (and probably am) wrong.

Don't expect any news for a month or so.  China pretty much shuts down the whole month of February for national holiday.  A company I worked for got their merchandise made in China and they always had to do an order early January because we couldn't get anything for a month.  So unless it was done and loaded on a boat at the end of last month, there probably won't be any progress for a couple or three weeks.

I believe that if they had ANY news, it would be trumpeted from the rooftops. As of right now, I am of the school that "no news is bad news."
The fact that CGL is not putting anything out that we can pay for if we have already bought everything else out there, though, makes me think
that they only want my money for Battletech and Shadowrun, and not this..

Give me something to buy! Take my money, please!

The Chinese New Year is early this year on January 23rd. Holiday usually lasts for one week. Some may take the opportunity to get a 2 week holiday. They are back to work by now.

Has anybody considered that this may be some kind of institutionalized ripoff / systemic failure at this point? Is there any evidence that the product exists?

Maybe I'm stubborn to my own disservice, but if someone dictated to me what I could put in my own product (Taiwan issue) and then failed to unscrew their delivery, I would burn that contract to the ground.

After spending X amount of non refundable dollars on dies and molds?  Eating the delay that starting from scratch would cause?  Discarding everything that has been produced so far?  Product exists, I've seen it at GenCon and I have a couple ships and a handful of cards.  I'm sure if it were feasible to go somewhere else, they would have by now.

Well that sounds promising. It'll at least give me something to tide me over I hope.

It's safe to say if our frustration and rage could be solidified, we'd have build a landbridge to Taiwan by now. From Seattle. In the meantime, I'm personally working on some older ship designs for forthcoming PDF release. And we had a good rant over developments for the timeline, in which the Taiwanese Protectorate of Australia narrowly got voted down. ;)

Have TPTB considered a natural disaster of some sort leading to Taiwan sinking into the ocean?

I really like the idea of older ship designs. That's something I was hoping would be included in the game, either to allow for older time periods to be played, or to represent ships that have been relegated to second-line duties due to their relative obsolescence.

Older ships also turn up in minor air powers, or in colonial forces, on a regular basis. Now that I do have a set of the minis that we managed to get for GenCon, I'm also keeping kitbash potential in mind.
