That's Mantic's alternative to Warhammer, right? I hear they're releasing a 40k stand-in, called Warpath, too. I used to play WFB some years ago. I had an all Goblin army, and it was hilarious. And half painted.

So how does King's of War compare to Warhammer? I'd be interested in digging my old Goblin's out of storage if it's similar but wthout all of the cheese.

The rules are free online.

After 2 games, it seems balanced enough. Both games came down to the wire.

Game involves more tactics in-game than it does thinking about an army list.

War path just does not interest me.

I realise that you are obviously a miniatures-oriented gamer, but can I suggest an alternative that has several advantages and also a really nice C3 implementation.  Battleground, which currently has a fairly wide variety of armies

Played it, in fact, I chat with the designer from time to time over at BGG.

Rules are great.

Art work varies from poor to good. With a few WTF is that thing?

Like it a lot, have all the armies, and yes, it is a great game. Unfortunately it started to succumb to powercreep as of late :(  (Historicals & Dark Elves, arguably even the high elves already)
