Would you buy Leviathans figures if released early
« on: November 12, 2011, 11:35:37 PM »
Something that was mentioned in another thread and I thought it would be nice for the higher ups to see a clear picture of what their customer base wants/doesnt want.  Basically would you buy Leviathans miniatures unassembled on the sprue if they were released before the box set since getting teh whole box set out has been problematic and will probably take some more time before all the parts are ready.

For me it would depend on what ships - but then again, I have two complete fleets and then some...

I want type threes :)

I would totally buy type three models. And maybe it would be even a good idea to go live with all the Books from the box as PDFs? Maybe sell the Commanders Rules for 10 or 15 $? People could finally play the full game and honestly the stuff in the box is so nice that everyone would get it just for that.

Would I buy ship packs (individual ships or collections, assembled or unassembled)?  Yes, to all, in multiples.

Would I buy the rule books?  Yes, once at least.

It seems to me that there is plenty of hype about this game right now. I feel that the company is losing out on this momentum by not having anything out except the partial rules.

Selling the full rules as PDFs, selling to models on the sprues would be a stop-gap until the full game is out. Selling the sprues would also allow kit-bashers to build the variant ships.

I don’t see a real down-side for the company.

Please keep in mind that this type of poll is subject to selection bias and won't offer any useful information if only posted for a short time.

I would really like to playtest with some honest minis.

I have no qualms about assembly as I do it a lot anyway.

So, yes, absolutely.

Then I can really begin my pirate fleet.

Even if this was OK'ed tomorrow, would the ships make it to stores before the whole game?

I believe the ships are already ready its the other items in the box set that have hit snags.  If they sold the just  the ships and the rules PDF there would still be plenty in the box set to give people the incentive to buy it I think (dice, maps, history).

If I already owned ships and sheets and rules, I'd still buy the box. That would net me all the other goodies, plus more ships and sheets for bigger games, and a spare rulebook so players looking things up don't have to pass the book across the table all the time.

That and there's torpedo tokens. Beats having to make them myself. I think there are easy to use arc diagrams as well.

I can't recall all went in there. Anyone who has a box care to share?

But, I definitely will buy a box because I prefer having the rules ready to hand, and easy to thumb through. We don't always have a laptop or kindle ready to use for electronic files. As intuitive as search engines may become, until they jack directly into your brain and act on thought impulses and visual cues, nothing beats the speed and ease of flipping through a book.

I am a mini collector and painter before I am a gamer, so yes I would by the minis by themselves.
