Think ... bigger. After all, if the lightest ship you can reasonably make fly with electroid is a destroyer ...

Oho!  So we're talking tanks like THIS one:

"Yea verily, though I charge through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil, for I am driving a house-sized mass of "**** you." Mammoth Tank Driver, Tiberium Wars.

Can we have flying tanks?

First one really is a land battleship, from Mobile Suit Gundam. Second looks like one of the hundreds of  theoretical monstrosities the Germans tried to come up with late WWII.
...because that battleship's...well...FLYING.

Doesn't look like either the P-1000 or the P-1500 (and I think the latter was invented after the war by someone who liked Nazis a bit too much, if you know what I mean). It seems to have too many Panzer IV turrets, and that crashed Spitty looks off-scale.

Just a bit of wonk, the second, all-around. But the first is neat.

The second one is an approximate mockup of a German P.1000 Ratte - a conceptual design only.  It was supposed to mount spare naval turrets (from the Scharnhort-class, fitted with only 2, 280mm guns instead of three) that the Germans had sitting around.  It's got way too many Panzer turrets on it - but that double-gun turret is pretty unique.  Est mass was about 1000 tons.  Further information: http://strangevehicles.greyfalcon.us/Landkreuzer%20P1000%20Ratte.htm

The first one, I've no idea.

Oh yeah, it's gorgeous. Too bad the only purpose it had in the show was to demonstrate how every other machine in warfare was rendered obsolete with the introduction of giant robots.

Pfah on the P.1000. Remember, kids: bigger tanks mean bigger targets, and if it can been seen, it can be killed. ;)

Tanks that big means that artillery can still hit even if it scatters. 8)

I can just imagine calling in a fire order on that thing. "Yeah, I'm going to need three or four batteries of fire here. Yes, one tank."

Yeah, even though I liked some of the later designs in Gundam like the Type 61 tank, the entire franchise falls victim of robot superiority. Real robot? Um, no. At least in Battletech the Mech, like today's main battle tank is the king of the battlefield but will probably lose against a properly deployed combined arms force.

I can just imagine calling in a fire order on that thing. "Yeah, I'm going to need three or four batteries of fire here. Yes, one tank."

A few large well-placed shaped charges and that thing is dead.

Yeah, I love the Gundam universe, but I'll agree that it more than stretches credibility when the same unit easily handles tanks, submarines and space battleships alike.

I liked Gundam Wing's Deathscythe...cutting space stations in half. With one blow.
