Commandos/Volunteers

Are there plans to organize a corps of Commandos who run games at the local level like Catalyst does with Battletech?

that would be sweet (speaking as a FLGS owner and a Leviathans fan).

But Commandos probably is not a good name for it.  What about Boatswain?  or Watchstander?  or Aeronaut (not my fav)

There is already such a group in place - the Catalyst Demo Agents. We run games at local venues and conventions. If you are interested in joining, you can enroll under www.catalystdemos.com.

(and tell them I sent you :D)

Seriously, since Leviathans is pretty new, we could use some more people.

Thanks for the info.  I was able to see Leviathans at PAX and I can say I was blown away by the quality of the ships out of the box.   I didn't get a chance to actually play, but was able to speak for a while with Randall and what I heard was nothing but good.     I am already planning on running some demo's for my FLGS when a) I finally get the game in hand and b) I get enough play time to become that "expert" 8)

If the stars align and it is out early enough I may be able to take it to Steamcon Oct 2011 and RustyCon Jan 2012  ;)

@Spence: Awesome, glad you like the game! Plus, given how new the game is, its not too hard to become an expert yet. Its not like Battletech were it actually takes days to read ALL the rules, so at least currently the entry curve is not too steep. I haven't played Leviathans before GenCon myself, but quite a lot during and since then.

Just check out catalystdemos.com.

The application process requires some work from your side but I think its worth the effort.

How about a player finder sub forum?  Maybe divided by regions?

What kind of a commitment does volunteering require out of a person?

I hate to point to a link, but they really explain it best here

http://catalystdemos.com/Enlist.asp

Apart from that, just run events when you can, the more the better :D

Does that answer your question?

Run 3 demos in a calendar year.  That's it basically. But as ApokalypseTest pointed out, the catalystdemos.com website gives you all the details you need.

I'm already a CDT demo team member (#83), and plan to demo Leviathans as soon as it's released.  Do we get special user tags here the way we do on the CBT forums?

I was looking for a little more personal response and I believe that I have been answered.

I'll bet those demos have to be run in stores.
