Yes, the base, pole and ship can be separated.

Ah, and thanks again.

Now if only my LGS was taking pre-orders. TT_TT

it would be great if we could have numbers - for PBM or just puzzles - it would be useful

I don't know if the numbers would affect gameplay overall- I only say this based off the maps in the downloadable demo being blank. Based on the those rules what little I've gathered from others on how the expanded rules work, I don't know if it will need to come into play. I think I would also be cool, but I'll wait to hear about the final product when it's out.

I can envision reasons for them in the future, even though there isn't a use for them now. All kinds of things.

Advanced munitions for torpedoes. Land-based games. Predesigned scenerios with terrain such as clouds and mountaintops and minefields, or fortresses on the ground.

I sometimes use the ones on the BT map to randomise unit set-up, especially when the game has a force coming onto an existing battlefield.

Recording locations of units and orientation for particularly long games where we have to quit and come back, but can't leave stuff out, makes numbered maps downright essential.

So, yeah. I really hope they number them.

Huh, hadn't thought of that. Interesting idea for continuing an existing game that you can't finish in the same day, or for a campaign setup.

Let me just say from watching the Levs crew at Gencon work their tails off, that they definitely deserve a round of applause... especially considering all the obstacles they had to overcome.

Their events were ALWAYS full.  The games looked AWESOME on the tabletop.  The demo setup at the Catalyst booth always had at least 10-15 people gathered around it every time I went past.  I really regret not having had the chance to jump in and go through the Bootcamp and Grinder myself, but that would have cheated some other deserving attendee from the chance.

One other observation, for what it's worth.  I saw a LOT of steampunk-themed costumes and/or peiod-specific aviation costumes out in the general population at Gencon this year.  This is the third convention I've worked this year, and I've seen a big uptick in the number of steampunk-styled costumes at all three.  I think Leviathans may be able to tap into an undercurrent of interest in this genre out there in the gaming fandom at large...

Charlie Tango,

Thank you for your kind words :) They mean a lot.  In regards to the Steampunk undercurrents, I've already talked to someone involved with the steampunk society of Toronto and there are plans once the game is released to throw an event in celebration in conjunction with the steampunkers of toronto :)  I'm really looking forward to it!
