My Scratch Work

Cujo31:
Greetings all... completely new to the forums!

My name is Matt and I was recently introduced to this game by a friend who loves
the "steampunk alternative history dogfight in the air with battleships" idea of this...

I myself love the idea and I am currently working on several models of ships that
have been provided to us in the gallery....  I love dabbling in 3D....

To get myself started, I deviated away from the big ships of the line.... and thought....
Would they have quick hitters in this game????   If we can have  battleships in the air,
why couldn't we also have submarines?

So I started tinkering.... Now my warning.... It is in no way complete... this is just a lil
of my tinkering.... I am sure my battleship will turn out much better  :P

Anyway....  let me know what you think of the work so far...  :D

Thanks for having a look.... let me know your opinions....

Pik:
I really love these artworks. :)

Great job, Cujo!

Unfortunately, I can't imagine flying submarine without losing the most important feature of the submarines - invisibility.

Maybe the mad Polish scientist would invent some electroid-based cloaking device which can make small airship almost invisible while she's hiding in clouds?

Even if Mr Bills says "no" to leviathan subs in his setting I would love to see a torpedo airboat (or destroyer) similar to your airship.

Toolian:
Would they see be Called SUB and MARINE while up in their air?  :P

Cujo31:
I  see your points....

In my thinking...  two things....   We know electriod in most operations would be used on ship destroyer size and up.... so perhaps using it on something U- boat size
wouldn't be considered....  secondly Toolian has a great point about the "sub" portion.... Here, I thought that maybe it is not stealth water wise.... maybe... they would
take the roll of say a "heliocopter."  Using terrian and ground obstacle for cover.... with quickstrike agility....  hiding in a canyon or raveen.... or behind a building.... being able to
jump from cover.... torpedo or attack... and then RUN.....  The Leviathans being big, clumsy, and slow in battle, the "sub" could jump in ... attack... and haul out....

LOL  Maybe they of the equivalent of the BSG Raptors....  hahahaha.

And they would have the weakness of lighter weapons (except torpedoes) and lighter armor perhaps..... and that would be balanced by speed and quick attack.
Being lighter and more nimble, they might also act as couriers, transporting goods etc to the much larger battleships.....

But as I said.... it is completely conjecture :)

Just me paying around :P

Weirdo:
I rather like this, and think it might work in Leviathans! Once technology advances and shrinks to allow Levs that small, a small ship with a limited number of torpedoes could prove very useful. Instead of a submarine, I think it would be more like a PT boat. Extremely fragile, it would rely on speed to dash into range and fire off the one or two torpedo salvos, then flee for safety. They'd also make good escorts, with that bow gun able to hurt other PT flyers(but seriously unlikely to hurt anything bigger), and since I'll bet fixed-wing craft and zeppelins would also be maturing by this time, those hedgehog-like mortars on the sides look like they'd make good one-shot AA weapons against such lightly-built craft. To keep them from overpowering the game, I'd say that because their steering appears to be limited to that single external rudder instead of louvers on the propulsion, their steering gear is very fragile, and still doesn't have a turning radius much better than larger Levs.
