Wish the minis could come out of the box looking like that.

The blogosphere seems to be pretty thin on Origins news, but I've been able to find this:

That French Ship (Grenouille?) looks all kinds of awesome. Kudos to the builder.

DiceHateMe has a 15-minute interview with Randall talking about Leviathans - good listening! In the "Origins Day 3" section.

I'm glad people enjoyed the diorama.  I'll be making a few touch-ups for GenCon (now that I FINALLY got some Armorcast muzzle flash pieces!), and it'll reprise its Origins appearance there as well.  Hopefully more of you can see it there in person.  I'll see about getting some close-ups to post here once I dig my camera charger out of the bag.

And guys, I literally cannot express how well the demo events went this year, and how excited the con population as a whole was at the game's overall epicness.  I just lack the words.  I was deliberately fishing for negative feedback at one point, and was unable for get any

'K, here's some pics.  Not as many as I'd like due to baby-induced camera shake.

Darrian,

Told you the baby was too young  to use the SLR ...  ;D Thanks for the photos. The last one sets all sorts of ideas spinning ... must point Sulla at you.

Now, two humble requests:

1) The paintjobs are great - any chance of a step-by-step with pictures?
2) A tutorial on making the smoke would be great too.

Cheers,

W.

I'm already submitting a proposal to Randall this week regarding the last pic - I just have to wait till Thursday when he's back from Origins and recuperated.  Heck, the full-size pic of it is my desktop wallpaper right now.

1) No chance currently.  I got my hands on the minis too late to do anything but throw them together and paint them.  No time to do photos.  If I get more before GenCon, I'll see what I can do...but I'm already having to paint minis for the Bloodright tournament and probably do some Levs scenarios, so it'll be tight.  I've only got a month.

2) The smoke is easy.  Take some cotton.  Spray it with some aerosol spray adhesive to give it body.  Let it dry COMPLETELY.  Dunk it in a black ink wash (50/50 water/ink) for an hour.  Take it out, let it dry COMPLETELY.  Lightly spray paint it black.  Tear off a hunk, mold it into the shape you want, and glue it to the smokestacks.
