Ottoman Captain's Mug ...
« on: April 14, 2011, 07:59:50 PM »
At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it! The mob I work for has offices and joint ventures in all sorts of places, including a new one in Turkey. I collect coffee mugs relating to places I have (or might) work, and prevailed on one of my co-workers going over there to bring me back a notably Turkish mug. He succeeded in spades:

The design makes it look to me like it would be well adapted to the rigours of air travel, so I've decided it's the mug of the captain of the Osman Gazi, flagship of the Osmani Hava Kilici (Ottoman Sword of the Air; any Turkish-speakers, please correct me!) being built by Vickers for the Ottoman Empire.

Cheers!

W.
