Crew Bonus dice
« on: February 06, 2010, 09:57:57 PM »
So, if I read the rules correctly, Crew slots give you a bonus die when attacking.

This leads me to one question: what do the crew in the aft of the British D-class Destroyers do, since there are no guns there...

I don't have the rules at all, but does the crew have to be in the section with the guns for them to add bonus dice?

Can we have flying tanks?

Per the Lt. rules, yes.

[Hmm, just notice that Lt can be an abbreviation for Lieutenant or Light...]

Crew slots provide additional advantages in the Commander's & Captain's Manuals.

I need a quick clarification: when there are two crew slots in one location (such as aboard the Pelletier), are two dice added to the pool when a gun is fired ?

From what I saw at the demo at GenCon, and assuming that the rules did not change much, crew slots add to their guns fire(per the LTs manual), and it can be assumed that two crew slots do add together..put like this: once crew slot is well trained at quickly bringing the gun to bear, while the other is very good at ferrying the ammo and powder, both of which could end up messing with an gun crews ability to hit the target.

Other advantages seen at Gencon: Well..one advantage: Crew can repair slots.

IIRC Sky Admiral Bills answered this on the CBT forum at one point, the answer being "yes". But those forums are down, so don't take that to the bank until we can confirm that.

Perhaps we both misread that blog because I had thought the same, but it appears the original method of play was correct. Please see Randall's note below.

See the new blog post to answer that question.

To clarify, even if you have multiple Crew Slots in a Location, you only add a single Crew Slot to any standard Breach Roll; additional Crew Slots, like on the Pelletier, are a "back up" for if one of the Slots is destroyed, or they both can be used for Repairs (see new blog).

Why are the British crews weaker than the French?
(When the British were know to have well trained crews, and leaders in new techniques such as director fired turrets?

First off, the very definition of "alternate history" is that things are different. But this is actually explained in the Leviathans Primer.

Which begins in 1906 with the Tesla coil invention discovery correct?
The alternate history is based on "standard" history until it diverges at some point (1906 IIRC)

Big Bang. ;D The very nature of physics is different in this universe. In the real world, there is no such thing as "electrical fluid." Obviously, it does exist in Leviathans.

Indeed. It just makes sense to be as accurate as possible with history up to the point where is diverges (IMO)

So if the alternate history had the British living in Antarctica and speaking  Swahili, I might scratch my head in wonder.  :D
