Of course, I don't want to discourage anyone who wants to buy the PDFs ...  ;D

For me it's all about perceived value. Do I feel like I've got my $7 or so dollars worth of value out of these early releases? Most certainly...that's less than a daytime movie ticket, and has given me much more than 2 hours of entertainment.

Do I also think it's worth paying a little extra to be able to play the game now, instead of just saving and waiting for the box-set or using a link from a file sharing site and not giving any funds for a game I've found that I love? Definitely yes.

You know...I have bought all the PDFs. I have shared them with everyone in my group
who I think would be interested in them. I did the same with Eclipse Phase. I have shared
them with long time friends from various MU*s. I love the creative commons license, but it
still feels funny sharing the stuff. I have taken many pains to avoid pirating stuff, and, honestly, the only way I can really assuage the tiny bit of guilt I feel, despite the Creative Commons License, is to pay for the stuff. I mean, I really do feel guilty just sharing it around.
It feels like stealing from the great people like Randall and Worktroll and crew who brought us this great game and universe. (Now, yes, I admit, I have gone and gotten
pirated books before...but then it either gets deleted from my computer if I do not like it, or I am buying a dead tree as soon as my FLGS can get it in and I have the money....or
the book is out of print and not available for PDF sale anywhere legitimate.)

I'd be a pretty hypocritical IP rights crusader if I didn't support folks who want their work released for free, too.

Aff. I completely agree there. I, myself, hate when you know something exists, but cannot get it in anyway, shape, or form.
Examples include the L5R 3rd Edition Player's Guide(I saw one ONCE, I did not have the money at the time, now, I cannot
buy it from ANYWHERE, not even E-bay), and many Spelljammer  and D&D 2nd Edition sourcebooks. Catalyst is very good
about going through the old stuff and getting it available for people, even in PDF.

I view the Creative Commons as something that is just so new that, honestly, it just feels weird sometimes. And so, I buy the
Creative Commons stuff CGL puts out so I do not feel so weird, and so that I can help contribute to their profit margin, since we
all know: More money for the Game Line=More money it gets for development. And I want Leviathans and Eclipse Phase to be
games where I can go to GenCon with my kids and, maybe even grandkids and celebrate the 25 anniversaries with when I am celeberating the 45 Anniversary of Shadowrun and the 50th Anniversary of Battletech.

Now, how to figure out how to get the incentive for Crimson Skies to be brought back into print... ;)

I think the creative commons concept is fantastic, and to be frank, much more realistic in this day and age.  I'd be willing to bet you're not going to lose much in the way of sales because people who grab it for free would most likely grab it illegally for free anyway.  This kind of information is so easily got in the age of information that it's hard to protect against it.

In fact, I'd like to think you might even make a few more sales, for people who appreciate the effort put into the work and the willingness to make it creative commons.

I am all for buying the PDF, especially if it helps bring this game to reality.  I have spent alot more on and received alot less in my gaming career.

I would not complain if a coupon or discount code was e-mailed to all those who did purchase the PDF just before Leviathans is oficially released as a thankyou for supporting the development process. ;)
