Thankyou.  I assume rear turrets work similarly.

Well, if I say "yes" as long as you don't take it to mean they cover front, port & starboard arcs  ;D

So does this mean that turrets & "don't move + turn two" are now pofficially part of QSR?

They're official expansions to the Lt's Manual, within the framework of the QSR. Hopefully that makes sense ...

In short, ravehnhuhrxt has the right of it. I'll cop the blame on that one - the intent was to include stripped-down turret rules, both to keep in line with the Lt's Manual rules, and based on wordcount/space. We may have sliced it a little too thin ;)

Rest assured that a) we'll look at the errata threads issue, b) if you bought a PDF, you'll get the updated PDFs for free as usual.

Thanks,

Worktroll

I thought it must be something like that.  Thanks!

While most turrets of the time (and beyond) are going to have arc issues, are we going to get full 360 turrets? Some historic ships were designed to give either 360 or near 360 arcs via cutaways and the like.

??? Leaving aside some purpose-built monitors, I can't think of any warships with 360 turrets?

The river monitors were the first ones to spring to my mind as well.

Of course, there were some weird and wonderful turret configurations as well, like things that could fire to both sides but not the front or rear.

I'm just waiting until someone figures out that they could mount a ventral turret, then manages to get the technology to work.

Was mostly thinking about monitors, and the equivalents.
But there were some oddballs out there with assymetrical turret designs where the standard 'adjacent arcs only' might not apply. (Like the Maine, but that one's not close to 360)

Someone's bound to have the idea (no matter how unfeasable) of placing a secondary or even primary weapon on 'top' of the ship at some point.

Personally, I was thinking that the 'bottom' would be possibly more useful:  No superstructure, funnels or any of that nonsense to get in the way

You also wouldnt have gravity securing it in place.  You'd need a securing mechanism and any damage to that means a decent part of your firepower just fell off.  It's also why I dont expect to see Leviathans rolling 180 anytime soon.
