Not fooling anyone, Cameron..but, assuming you are asking as trying to put it in the mouth of someone not
familiar with the game:

Battletech is a game focusing on giant robots blowing each other to bits, set in a universe of politics, backstabbing,
and interstellar powers. Yes, you can expect to spend some money on the core books(about 40-50 each, currently
4 books), or you can get them in pdf for about 15 a pop. Miniature are nice, but not needed.  Only downside is that,
currently, map-packs are out of print...but we should be seeing their triumphant return this month or next month,
since the first map pack is slated for release this quarter.

and I'm a WoB-aholic, but I more than dabble in clan tech, specifically H2 (players should recognize them). I am currently the pilot of an Atlas AS7-D for Kurita, really big boy with an AC20, OK heat sinks, and typical bulbous boy movement.

Hi!

Played a lot, a lot of time ago: it's been my first serious wargame, bought in L.A. on a hot summer of the 80's, before I could even drive a car legally in the U.S. (never mention in Italy).

Had Battletech, Citytech, Aerotech, Battletroops, a lot of tech manual, a few minis... must be around somewhere in my parent's cellar.

Come to think of it, Fasa got a LOT of my money; Battletech, Crimson Skyes, Shadowrun, Renegade Legion... all the novels... yeah a lot!

ps. I even tried out the Battletech Center in Cicago, and ALL Mechwarrior games from the first to Mercenaries! Great universe, simply great!

I myself play battletech when I can, I do not play the current timeline however. Clansmen player though and though, Clan hells horses almost always, I do get all nostalgic for 3025 from time to time however.
