SOME content is under creative commons...

In theory it would be really neat to be able to make free use of Leviathans, but in reality, I have honestly no clue what part of leviathans is under creative commons and what not. Silly as it sounds, it makes me feel actually less free than making Fan content for for example Shadowrun. I know that nothing is free there, but at least the same rules apply for anything I do. I have a clear expectation of pontential issues.

So, what parts of Leviathans are CC. and more important, which are not?

That seems especially important since the CC also implies to derived work, so what about the commanders rules? Are they a derivate of the Lieutenants manual and therefore under CC? What about ship cards? The printable fleet pdfs etc.?

The situation is somewhat unclear for the fans and while I would love to spread the word and even host files, I certainly dont KNOW what I can do, due to the some content disclaimer.

Could someone official help out here?

I think as far as creative commons go you can print out copies of anything available now (even teh paid stuff) and share it but I think this wouldnt include mass distribution via internet.  As far as teh commanders book goes I think that would be included too but photocopying a whole book would cost a lot.  So if you wanted to run a league you could print out tons of material for all your players if they didnt want to buy a core set but it will cost you a pretty penny to do so.  Im guessing that catalyst wont be packaging rule books and such by themselves so they wont really lose sales cause of CC cause all the written material will be packaged with miniatures and other goods that players will want/need.  I dont know how this will work down teh line when/if we start getting sourcebooks and other book/pdf exclusive things.

The CC does not address the width of sharing - everything that falls under it can be distributed as much as I wish as long as the conditions (Non-commercial, Attribution etc.) are fulfilled. For all material clearly labeled as being under the CC this is clear.

However, this is not the case if SOME of the content is covered by CC and some isn't. And if it is not absolutely clear what is and what not, effectively they might as well not put anything under CC since any attempt to use stuff is a legal russian roulette.

Well according to the post on it it says it says "printed rulebooks/sourcebooks and PDFs" which would would pretty much cover anything so you could share all products unless they come out with exceptions later on.  I know that all content currently available and set to be realeased would be covered under the CC license.  How much you share is going to be a grey area i think as there is probably a fine line between non-commercial and commercial and while Im not sure, mass distribution is probably not allowed even though its not technically commercial.  Like I said I think they will push sales of their prined products by packaging them with other things that cant be gotten through CC like mini's and high quality cards and maps.
