Parachutes?

Also, I wasn't aware Torpedoes use Electroid, I guess I was expecting some kind of rocket.

Have you seen the chutes that airplane flyers of the 40s wore? Yeah. I don't want those dangling around my ankles while I'm running around on deck. Parachutes would be impractical for an entire ship's crew. Eventually doable, for sure. But, as early as 1910? The first wearable Parachute wasn't made until 1911 and the inventor died while diving from the Eiffel Tower.  :P

Otherwise, you're looking at a parachute lifeboat. Not as much prep is required as a balloon, but still more than having something with fold-out wings.

I could see French ships with parachute lifeboats.  ;) However, if we're specifically looking at a reason to have something with wings on a ship, a glider-style lifeboat is probably one of the first applications, as long as the electrofliers are the focus of combat. Strictly non-combat, but still useful.

Hm, I see the intention.

The having to wear it all the time probably wouldnt be as much an issue though - Parachutes on a Lev would be more like life-vests on a ship - you put them on once its clear the ship is going down.

Rescue gliders would require A LOT more skill to use.

An electroid life boat might be possible.  Something like a torpedo where flight time is very limited.  You have to get it on the ground (or water) fast but not so fast you get everyone killed doing it.  Capacitors would have been around a long time by 1910.  I figure that is one way that torpedoes might work.

I could see that as the final evolution of the lifeboat concept. But, before then?

Just to make that clear - the point is finding a reason to have something with wings on a ship?

How about something like the helicopter-kites German U-Boats used to carry in WW2? It could be dragged behind and above a Lev and provide a higher vintage point.

The problem even with battleship mounted planes (apart from the wrong era thing) is also how to land them back on board? The planes stationed on ships like Bismarck where geared for catapult launch but water landing and heaved back on board with a crane - something thats not exactly viable while you are a couple hundred to thousand feet in the air.

I still like the idea with reconnaissance planes that was made earlier. Just don't have a good idea how to implement them outside of a campaign setting.

I think the idea is awesome.  Timeline-wise, you're looking at 1918-1920's or so before carriers that could launch and land ships were prevalent.  Around this time you also have torpedo carrying planes.

Wow, awesome Model - what is it?
Donīt know, found in in google pictures: "german battleship pulp"

But to write about airplanes in Leviathans:
They could be an attack with high dices (e.g. 2 attacks in one round, each with 2Blacks
or so) and infinit range, but it could be only started two times in a game, and only in
turns with one or two turns between them, to deflect the time to start, fly to target,
bomb, return to carrier and reload with bombs.

Example:
I fly the first attack in round two.
The 2nd can not be taken until round four,
because the planes have to return to the carrier and
the bomb load has to be reloaded.

I think 2attacks with 2Black dice with infinite range is a dangerous attack,
so it has to be weakend by the limit of only 2 uses in one game.
And with that dices you will have a range between 2 and 24, so it
reflects the chance to cripple a ship with one volley, but if the
dices are bad, it shows the aa fire from the target and not enough bombers
can drop their bombs.

Excuse my english, i hope you understand what i mean...
