Target Declaration
« on: May 20, 2010, 07:43:40 AM »
Quick question.

Do you declare all of your targets before making any attacks?  My immediate assumption was yes, since fire was described as being all simultaneous, but I can't find proof of that anywhere.

I don't think so.   I'm pretty sure you simply fire at any target you want at the time of the roll.

You could declare all your attacks prior to rolling, which would be more realistic and add a level of strategy.  However, that would add a lot of record keeping before each combat to track what was shooting where.

This would be a great add-on rule for the Captain's manual!

That's do target declaration in BattleTech, which is run by (mostly) the same people and uses several of the same rules.

It also keeps "But I was actually shooting at that guy.  The other one blew up." syndrome out of the game entirely.

"Yea verily, though I charge through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil, for I am driving a house-sized mass of "**** you." Mammoth Tank Driver, Tiberium Wars.

Can we have flying tanks?

I'm sure that it's all attacks are declaired first, then rolled. not that hard to do, and if the target goes 'Ka-Blewie' before everyone who was firing at it does so, juast marked it up as OVERKILL and move on....After all, there's no need to keep track of ammo, right?

Um...that's interesting. You're correct it doesn't state that explicitly in the Lieutenant's Manual. However, checking the Commander's Manual, it does explicitly state that yes, you declare all fire first.

Have to note that down for a tweak in the LM.

Thanks!
