Way OT: Anyone getting an iPad tomorrow?

I am!  Of course, for me it's a tax deductible item, since I write iPhone (and now iPad) software for a living. 

I'll be in line at the Kenwood Apple store in Cincy if there's any locals on here ...

How cool do you think the having the Leviathan ship cards on your iPhone/iPad would be?

If it's any answer, just this week I picked up a refurb Acer 10.1" netbook for cheap that came w/ a wireless mouse and external DVD burner. I plan on using it for my travels in place of my old Dell 15" laptop.

My son got himself a 32GB iPod for Christmas. I now call it his "iPad Nano"

Tablet PCs are laptops with the keyboard removed. No-one has done any work on the OS or user interface to make them work properly as tablets. Which is why they have not sold for the last five years. They suck

Whoever wrote that is a jackass. The idea that anyone would buy an iPad and four iPhone or iPod Touchs to play Scrabble is stupid. No-one would. The basis of the "joke" is flawed and its just someone trying to make themselves feel better about being a web cartoonist and probably too poor to afford one anyway

Well, I'd say since multiple people have enjoyed it that the "joke" can't be too flawed.

Satire is satire, and no one would expect people to spend that much money -just- for Scrabble...that's what makes it a better joke, in my opinion. I see yours differs, but I don't see how that should cause such hostility.

Yes it is and the typical purpose of satire is to ridicule which this does well. The last narrative panel in the strip is what ruins the joke and ruins the effect.

It also totally ignores that rather exciting aspect of this type of gaming. Nintendo did games that used the DS as a sub controller and this is an interesting way to push the boundaries of what we expect from a video game.

Seeing knee-jerk "people are more stupid than me" cartoons is really just boring and typical of the kind of dreck you find online.

I'll give you that, I'd personally have rather seen the "priceless" tag used.

I've stayed away from touch screen gaming of any sort, myself. I get freaked out by smudges on my regular monitors easily enough as is, haha. If things go well enough for me next month, I'll be getting a Droid, which will be my first touch-screen "thing".
