Permission to come aboard.....
« on: February 03, 2010, 09:56:58 PM »
Excellent timing.....I have been following the site and some of the blogs for a few months.  Today I took the plunge and purchased the LT manual.  I click on the site tonight and there are forums......  8)

I am a huge fan of Naval wargaming as well as aerial combat games.....This is perfect.

Looks like everything is off to a great start and I eagerly await seeing the core set.  From what I have seen so far this looks to be the start of a great new era of gaming.

Full game release, anyway. The LT's Manual is fully-playable.

Yes, and it is a blast. I demoed it at my venue last week, and a) my playstyle is more
british then french and b) all involved had a blast...now if only the PDF did not over-write printer settings and force them to print it all itty-bitty....

Odds are favorable that it'll make it into the rotation in my group.

I think this game went through two or three major revisions during development and each time has come out even easier and faster to play without losing any tactical complexity. Make no mistake; it was awesome from Day One. But the current system, with the color-coded dice, is just amazing. Once you memorize the order of dice, it's even quicker.

It has been a while since I played a game with the demo. If I remember right, Frenchies were built more around speed and getting close up.

The map given to us made the game a bit of a hockey rink, If you combine more maps I think the French will be a bit more effective in some ways, and more fragile in others.

Brits were more of my play style from the 2 test games I have played... If I played right  ::)

Yeah, I've liked the British ships more so far. Especially HML Raven. That little ship has been the British MVP of both the games I've played as the Brits.

Note that you can in practice play using any other game-system's 1.25" or thereabouts hexes - I'm planning on seeing how things look using Heroscape hexes at some point, or my home-built 3D hexboards.

And indeed, if you prefer counters to minis, there's no limit on what hexmaps you can use - just scale to fit.
