a little suggestion about breaking the keel
« on: March 19, 2010, 06:42:10 AM »
Hi!  I'm a new ACTIVE member of the forum, but I've been lurking for some time :D
I had a little suggestion for adding a bit more flavour to the game, don't know if it's applicable, but here it is:

The roll for breaking the keel is made with two red dices if I'm not mistaken.
it is at least possible that in the future different kind of ships could have a sounder structure or some flaw that could call for different dices to be used.
To make the game expandable in this sense, it would simply need to add two red dice marker beside the structural integrity value on the ship cards, as a reminder of how many and which type of dice to use in a break the keel roll.

I don't know how much the graphics of the game is already "set in stone" but I thought this could be helpfull; sorry if anyone had already suggested this and I missed it.

oh, and another suggestion: you have thought of ITALIAN ships in your release schedule, don't you? :D

Some great concepts there. The reason the dice icons are not directly on the Ship Card is specifically because there are ways to modify what dice are rolled.

In the Captain's Manual, there is an expanded Breaking the Keel rule that changes the dice rolled based upon the Weapon Dice used (i.e. the size of the Gun Battery that inflicted the damage forcing the Breaking the Keel Roll).

I'm also working on Ship Quirks for release beyond the Core Box Set that would modify what dice are rolled.

And so on.

Right:  If you already change the dice as per weapon used and quirks of the ship, I'd say that's more than enough!  :D
This game is getting better and better all the time... make room for an Italian "Regia AeroMarina" (Royal Air Navy) and it'll be perfect! ^_____^

In 1910 the aerial forces of the Kingdom of Italy still fall under the Regia Marina, but rest assured they're definitel part of the plan!
