Other games:

Several Avalon Hill boardgames (when I can find opponents!)
Warmachine / Hordes
Total War series
Full Thrust

Been wanting to play full thrust. Is it complicated?

Don't have the time or money to invest in anything during the holiday season.

Wonder if I can use my star wars minis?

Basic Full Thrust is entirely about using your own miniatures: their setting is an optional add-on.  The game rules are pretty straight forward to begin with, only getting complex with the addition of all the extra optional rules in More Thrust or the Fleet books.

Of course, I have 1st ed, so there may be some small changes from there.

Picked up Warhammer 40K in an unofficial capacity lately.  I play, but I don't have minis and usually just borrow what someone else isn't using that moment.

That said, I absolutely love my Imperial Guard.

I love watching people play 40K, it's rather fun, more entertaining than most TV shows out there.

Would love to play, but think it may be a bit to complex for me. I like my simple and fun games. =)

I've been told most 40K players are picking on how you paint your army, so, yeah, don't think they'll like me.  ;D

I love the Orcs. They are so freakin' awesome.

I'm actively playing:  Warhammer 40K.  And getting my butt kicked on a regular basis, but it's fun to see the nice miniatures on a tabletop.

I want to start playing Battletech again.  I've been buying up used FASA goods like mad on eBay.  I have no interest in the Dark Age era and frankly the less said about the Clans the better, but...

I've played Avalon Hill games in the past.  I also played Axis & Allies and PTO and ETO.

Looking forward to Dystopian Wars, but judging from another thread the rules are not that great...a pity really.  I was hoping they would tide me over until Leviathans.

Don't let me stop you.

Many different tastes out there.

Some people like dark beers. Some people like lite beers.

Best advice. Just get the rule book. Worse case scenario you waste 20-some bucks.

This is why more companies need to utilize the internet and youtube.

Create a turn by turn break down of the rules and a break down of a few units to get the basic understanding of rules.

So many games I have bought and hated.

Yea, but the people who like lite beers are wrong.

It's not there fault. They don't know they are wrong.

We should show sympathy.

I'm going to start playing DW in an escalation league.  I have bought the core rulebook and am wading through it.  They have some cool game mechanics, but the production quality of their books does not equal Leviathans (or any CGL game) - in my opinion.  They've made several typos in their book including the last name of one of the rules writers in the Acknowledgements section - d'oh!

The quality of their fluff remains to be seen.  It's intriguing so far, but I think they did a pretty bad job with the Japanese.  I was an East Asian studies major and took Chinese and Japanese so when I see publishers use simplified Chinese characters in place of the traditional characters which the Japanese still use (although slightly modified in some instances) I wince (see page 15 of the core rulebook).  I've looked up the characters in both traditional form, reading both backwards and forwards and the closest I have come up with is the name of a Pachinko manufacturer in Aichi prefecture.

I had a similar reaction when I saw a class of destroyers referred to as "Yurgi class" which I had hoped was a typo on the website.  It wasn't.  It's in the core rulebooks for all eternity...

Almost very Japanese consonant (with very, very few exceptions) is followed by a vowel.  So the word "Yurgi"?  It doesn't exist nor could it in the modern Japanese tongue.  I don't say this to be pedantic merely to point out that I have not found similar flaws in the Leviathans discussion of the Japanese navy so far.

I'm actively playing WH40K, but also own some WHFB minis ( Skaven ).

I also started Warmachine/ Hordes, but for my taste it develpos more and more to WH40K sized games. I really liked the small skirmish games I played at the beginning ( Warmachine Prime ).

I'm intersted in Dystopian Wars and just got the rulebook. Actually I got to know about Leviathans in a DW Forum. And here I am. :D

Awesome, and welcome. You'll love Leviathan rules. Very unique set of rules. Very straight forward.
