I started with a bit of DND, but moved on to enjoy Battletech. I'd played the Mechwarrior games and read the books, so I enjoyed the tabletop game as well. I've done a bit of A Sky Full of Ships, a generic, fast-play space combat game, as well as General Quarters 2 and Aerodrome. I also do a lot of Risk.
Most of my gaming is not with tabletop minis and dice, though. I play Distant Guns and Jutland, computer games set during the Russo-Japanese War and the First World War. There is a great campaign for both, and a small group that plays
multi-player matches every weekend.
The mainstay of my gaming is
model warship combat. It involves building 1/144 scale model battleship, equipping them with BB guns, motors, and radio, and
fighting other models so equipped. It combines my passion for building with my passion for gaming and history. As one of the younger and more fit members, I recover the sunken models afterward, which is kinda like
wreck-diving on the cheap.
