Catalyst Lab's VASSAL Policy?
« on: December 15, 2012, 08:13:19 AM »
Does anyone know CL's policy on VASSAL or other independent not-for-profit programs to recreate their games?

(please exclude the obvious java based program for this discussion.)

do you mean does VASSAL have guidelines or do you mean does Catalyst Labs have guidelines?  Because if it is the second then that is what I am inquiring about.

Leviathans is licensed under Creative Commons BY-NC-SA.  That means you can do whatever you want with it, so long as you credit CGL and don't charge for it.

Good to know.  Can you tell me were you obtained the licensing info?

It's on page 3 of the commander's manual, starting in the middle column below the dedication to Doug Chaffee, and continuing onto the top of the third column as well.  The ship cards all also have a BY-NC-SA license attribution on them, and there's a similar license statement on page 3 of the online edition of the Lieutenant's manual.

Did anyone ever make a VASSAL module for Leviathans?

No it does not exist as a vassal module as of now but I am currently working on it (my good computer is in need of parts before I can make much headway).
